About Role:

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Engineering Manager to lead our Cloud Platform team at Snappcloud. In this role, you will oversee the development and enhancement of cloud infrastructure tools, guide the creation and provisioning of Kubernetes operators for various databases and tools, and ensure the installation and configuration of cutting-edge applications on the cloud. You will be instrumental in driving the strategic direction of the team, fostering a collaborative work environment, and maintaining excellence in cloud platform engineering. Additionally, a critical aspect of your role will be facilitating an exceptional user experience with our cloud services and ensuring deep understanding and application of distributed systems.

Responsibility:

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Lead and mentor a team of Cloud Platform Engineers, fostering a culture of learning, innovation, and excellence.

  • Facilitate regular team meetings, code reviews, and sprint planning sessions.

  • Identify training and development needs, and provide growth opportunities for team members.

  • Project Management:

  • Oversee the development and deployment of cloud tools and Kubernetes operators, ensuring projects are delivered on time and meet quality standards.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align resources and priorities with the company’s strategic goals.

  • Manage project risks and make informed decisions to mitigate them.

    Strategic Planning:

  • Develop and maintain a strategic roadmap for cloud platform engineering projects.

  • Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in cloud technologies to ensure the team’s practices remain cutting-edge.

  • Drive innovation to improve cloud user processes and efficiency.

  • Facilitate a seamless and efficient user experience with our cloud services.

    Technical Oversight:

  • Provide technical guidance and expertise to the team in areas of Kubernetes, Helm, and Golang.

  • Ensure scalability, reliability, and performance of the cloud platform infrastructure.

  • Promote best practices in automation, deployment, and monitoring.

  • Apply deep knowledge of distributed systems to enhance platform capabilities.

    Communication and Collaboration:

  • Serve as a primary point of contact between the Cloud Platform team and other departments.

  • Facilitate clear and effective communication of project statuses and technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Encourage and support team collaboration with other engineering and IT teams.

    Documentation and Support:

  • Oversee the creation of comprehensive documentation for applications, tools, and processes.

  • Ensure the team provides timely assistance and support to cloud administrators and users.

Job requirements

Required Skills:

  • Proven experience in engineering leadership roles, with a strong focus on cloud platform technologies.

  • Extensive knowledge of Kubernetes, OpenShift, and cloud infrastructure automation.

  • Strong programming skills, preferably in Golang, with experience in developing and managing Kubernetes operators.

  • Excellent project management skills and experience in agile methodologies.

  • Expertise in distributed systems and their implications on cloud architecture.

  • Ability to enhance and optimize user experience with cloud platforms.

    Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, GitOps, and related automation tools.

  • Familiarity with cloud monitoring and management tools like Prometheus and Grafana.

  • Understanding of distributed systems and data-intensive applications.

  • Experience with OpenStack, Ceph, and container orchestration tools.
